Whiskey Del Bac Distillers Cut

This is potent. So hot that I required water to appreciate it, which is rare for me. However, enjoyed neat, I found it to be nutty, earthy, spicy, and complex. With a splash of water, it mellows out somewhat, revealing vanilla, peppermint, and other pleasing notes. This is a challenging one. I suspect the proof could be lowered slightly, or it might benefit from more aging. It's good, but it has the potential to be so much better.

Attended a tasting event for this distillery with their brand ambassador. I sampled multiple expressions, and I can confirm each one possesses a distinct flavor profile. The specific version I tried tonight had a Madeira finish, which I found to be a blend of characteristics found in Glendronach and Colkegan. Excellent product! It combines a sherry finish with mesquite smoke.

This was the 2021 spring release. It offered amazing sweet sherry, stone fruit, honey, vanilla, and spice. The 55.9% ABV was completely concealed, tasting more like 43% on the palate. The liquid had a thick, oily consistency and was very complex.

Batch 17-02. An excellent product, superior to the regular versions as they use minimal smoked spirit. It initially seems too sweet but then reveals a rich combination of flavors.

I had the chance to sample this at The Parlor in Phoenix; it's potent, as expected for cask strength, but just as enjoyable as its lower-proof counterpart.

Batch 2: Features rich raisin notes and balanced sweetness. It's comparable to a refined Macallan without being excessively sherried. My understanding is that batch 2 was aged in a Madeira cask.
