St. George Single Malt Lot 14

The aroma is nearly floral, reminiscent of a triple-distilled Irish malt. On the palate, it shifts to a prominent cocoa character with notes of vanilla and honeysuckle; the finish has an almost beer-like quality, with a pleasant sourness. Until now, I haven't favored American malts (including those from Balcones, Westland, and others), but I enjoyed this nearly as much as a Scotch or Asian malt. It's a bit expensive, but certainly superior to most American malts.

This was the "Baller" cask, a Japanese-style single malt from a US distillery. A remarkable whiskey. The nose is very approachable, but it surprises with a wide range of flavors. I perceive sweetness from the barley malt, along with earthy, citrus, and chocolate notes. The finish is mild, with a sweet and bitter aftertaste. Definitely worth sharing with someone who appreciates complexity, or enjoying solo:)

I really enjoy the cocoa, cinnamon, and nutty flavors, but a distinct cherry cough syrup note detracts from it, preventing a perfect score. It's certainly the most intriguing and sophisticated American malt I've sampled.

Sampled Lot 13. It's distinctive and excellent. Smooth with a mild bite, it offers a complex array of flavors that would require time to fully discern through smelling and tasting. A worthwhile bottle purchase.

Light, thin, with a touch of fruit and not much else. Smells of acetone. If this were brandy, it would be excellent. As a whiskey, I found it lacking.
