Tullibardine 15 Year

This Tullibardine seems quite new. A sample was provided by a retailer who appears to be the sole vendor. It's not even listed on the distillery's official site. Perhaps it's a trial release, who can say. The nose greets you with fresh stone fruits, mainly cherries and plums just picked. There's also damp hay and a touch of fermented apple. A hint of sherry is certainly present. The palate delivers chocolate and red berries with a surprising creaminess. The finish is lengthy, lingering with a mild oaky bitterness and tart apple juice. It was enjoyable, but it makes one question the release of such an intermediate spirit. For me, it only sparks curiosity for older expressions, which I anticipate will offer more richness and brininess, elements I found slightly lacking here.

The packaging is attractive. No information is provided regarding filtration or coloring. The nose offers notes of apples & cinnamon. The initial taste is light and very approachable. A short finish. The mid-palate is a pleasant blend of caramel baked apple and light cinnamon. The casks used are of high quality. I shared this with three friends, and everyone found it enjoyable. It lacks peat and isn't demanding. I'd describe it as an excellent dram for someone new to Scotch or a fan of bourbon.

I've always been drawn to Tullibardine and appreciate their creations. On the nose: Abundant chocolate caramels and vanilla, with notes of apples and pears, malt, strawberry, and peaches. Palate: Caramel chocolate, maltiness, and oak. Finish: A long, sweet caramel party.

Toasted oak on the nose. Rich and smooth with a velvety texture. The palate has caramelized plum and strawberry, plus malt. It develops with earthy tones and rustic bread, followed by crème brûlée. The finish lasts a while with more toasted oak.

Great for anyone who enjoys scotch and bourbon but is undecided. It’s exceptionally smooth, perhaps excessively so; I’d prefer it had a bolder character. Nevertheless, it’s a delightful drink to enjoy throughout the night. Plus, the 15-year age at $75 is a fantastic value.
