True Story is a whiskey brand introduced by Wes Henderson, a co-founder of Angel's Envy and an inductee into the Bourbon Hall of Fame. This bottling consists of Kentucky straight rye whiskey aged between 5 and 8 years in new charred American white oak barrels. It was subsequently finished for 2 to 12 months in Brazilian Amburana wood and Oloroso & PX wine casks. Bottled at 100 proof, it becomes available on October 10, 2024, at select retailers in Kentucky and Tennessee, as well as through the brand's website. The suggested retail price is $69.99.

Wonderfully distinct aroma! Very different mouthfeel and back end taste. Mouthfeel is "dry" and not oily. I would place this closer to scotch rather than bourbon or rye. Could smell this all night and a lot to explore on the palate.
Really interesting rye. It tastes as you might expect an amburana finish to taste… like your grandmother's perfume crashed the party.
