About this bottle

Wes Henderson, a co-founder of Angel's Envy and a Bourbon Hall of Fame inductee, established the True Story whiskey brand. This particular bottling is Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey, aged for 5-6 years in new charred American white oak barrels. It then underwent a finishing period of up to 6 months in white Moscatel wine casks. The product is bottled at 90 proof and will be available starting October 10, 2024, at select retailers in Kentucky and Tennessee, as well as through the brand's website. The suggested retail price is $59.99.

Francis Clemons 4.0

First pour from the bottle. The nose presented floral and toffee candy notes. The flavors include soft fruits like maraschino cherry and apple juice. Although this is a newer product from the creator of Angel's Envy, it bears a resemblance to some Buffalo Trace products. While I typically prefer richer, oakier bourbon, this will be a nice addition for moments when I desire something easier to drink. At only 90 proof, the finish is short, leaving little opportunity for new flavors to develop. Score 3.75-4. The price is around $60, making it a questionable purchase if you already have a preferred option in this price range, as it won't surpass it. However, it will serve its purpose if you're looking for a new product to enjoy on your bar.

Kyler Mccarthy 4.5

Great whiskey! It has a pleasant mix of fruit and spice, a well-made bourbon that allows the bourbon's character to shine through.

Cornell Acker 4.0

Very smooth and distinct. However, I'm not keen on the bottle's appearance.
