A decent rum, but the oak is a little too prominent, making it so tannic it borders on harsh. The tannins do diminish with time, so I suggest pouring a glass and letting it rest. Doing so reveals vanilla, butterscotch, and baking spices. The finish is pleasantly fruity, with notes of pears and cherries. I enjoy this rum, but I think it would benefit from a second aging in a less assertive cask. I'm also curious to experience this rum at full cask strength.
