Tormore 16 Year Old

An intriguing, nearly unknown spirit that piqued my interest. Nose: Smells of raspberry jam, cherries, malt, sawdust, ripe strawberries, somewhat like hamster feed (that dry mix of pellets, grain flakes, dried fruit...), cold coffee, peaches, a hint of vanilla. Honestly, it's a bit peculiar and unconventional, which I find engaging. Palate: Light, sweet, and fruity, with fruit-kernel notes. It possesses an odd, funky quality also present on the nose – I'm uncertain what it is, but I haven't encountered it in any other spirit before, except perhaps in Campbeltown. It actually brings to mind Springbank. There's also some charred smokiness. Finish: A pleasing harmony of sweet, sour, dry, and bitter. This is a curious spirit that I believe would pair exceptionally well with some peat. However, it's also quite enjoyable as is, offering nice depth and genuine uniqueness. I appreciate it. A certainly interesting discovery.

Finish: also subtle, light, pleasant, medium-short. I absolutely loved it; it has no out-of-place notes, suitable for drinking any time of day or night! A surprisingly good find. Tormore currently offers only two main varieties, the 14-year-old and this excellent whisky, which has been aged for 16 years. This expression is not only two years older than the previous one but also has a higher alcohol content of 48%, contributing significantly to its flavor and character. On the nose, I detected almonds, peanuts, figs, and ripe fruits, along with tobacco. The palate features chocolate and sherry-soaked figs. It's very, very good, even if a bit straightforward. The aftertaste is reminiscent of eating a Snickers bar, with abundant nutty and vanilla sweetness. This is a fantastic dram that I wholeheartedly endorse. Rated 90 out of 100.

Floral aromas, hints of salt and crème brûlée are present. The alcohol is noticeable on the nose but feels in balance with the other elements in the mouth. A subtle smoky quality lingers in the finish alongside vanilla notes
