This Tomintoul expression, similar to Glenmorangie's finished whiskies, is a 10-year-old ex-bourbon aged Tomintoul that spends approximately two years maturing in an ex-Port wine pipe. Tomintoul distillery is situated on the Glenlivet Estate, on the site of a former illicit still. The malt is bottled at 46% ABV, is non-chill filtered, and contains no added color.

Nose: Unadulterated whiskey, with notes of vanilla and raspberry. Palate: Tastes of honey, vanilla, and strawberry shortcake. Finish: Lingering honey fades into a hint of smoke. Verdict: I’ve savored this bottle, even with its rating. The port finish is so delicate it doesn’t overwhelm, preserving the beloved vanilla and bourbon notes. I probably won’t repurchase, but I don’t regret buying it.
October 21, 2017 Tasted at Bert's, the second one might have been better than the first. Harder to judge now, but I expect it's quite good on its own.
Mild sweetness, caramel, peppery.
A very smooth single malt
A bit thin.
