Antoine Santamaria 2.0

This spirit has only a 2% higher alcohol content than Van Meer's Chocolate (imitation). While Van Meer's tastes like Nesquik, this is more like a quantity of chocolate chips melted into alcohol. It presents a more convincing chocolate flavor than Van Meer's, but it also has a stronger taste of grain alcohol with a hint of rye. Its aroma is also somewhat reminiscent of vodka, whereas Van Meer's has a sweeter chocolate scent. The flavor offers a richer, more authentic chocolate taste than Van Meer's, but it also tastes more like grain (rye) alcohol. It's a slight improvement, but disappointingly only a minor one. It's surprising how much darker and slightly greener this appears compared to Van Meer's Chocolate. The aroma is sweetly chocolatey, but in a subdued manner, with earthy and slightly vegetal undertones. It's very rich and creamy, far more so than Van Meer's. However, there's an unusual bitterness and spiciness present. Something tastes somewhat tart. While I appreciate its effort to be an authentic chocolate liqueur, it doesn't quite succeed on the palate. The finish becomes more chocolatey with added sweetness and richness, but it also carries hints of those vegetal notes (likely from the vodka). Tolon Tolon Chocolate has its merits, but it's peculiar and needs some adjustment to integrate its unusual character more harmoniously.
