Appearance: Completely opaque, dark walnut brown. Aroma: Dark bittersweet chocolate, chocolate nibs, with a background note of espresso coffee and a hint of vanilla. Flavor and Texture: The taste is sweet but not overly so, with a rich texture and a flavor precisely like chocolate syrup (as noted officially). It lacks any metallic or artificial taste – just an excellent chocolate flavor. This looks and smells identical to my homemade chocolate liqueur (recipe below), and I can't offer higher praise. Its taste is equally good, perhaps even superior. This is my first time trying Mozart Dark, and I find it very pleasing. I still rank their Gold Chocolate Cream Liqueur slightly higher due to its creamy, full texture and resemblance to Italian drinking chocolate, but this is an excellent alternative if a creamy texture isn't desired, and both receive a "Very Good" overall rating from me. Chocolate liqueur: Ingredients: 300g cocoa nibs 500ml dark rum 200ml vodka 200ml white rum 2 vanilla pods, split open Method: Lightly grind the cocoa nibs in a coffee grinder or with a mortar and pestle. Place in a 1-liter jar and add the rums, vodka, and vanilla pods. Let it steep for 3-4 weeks. Strain through cheesecloth into a clean jar. Prepare a moderately rich simple syrup using 300g sugar and 230ml water. Combine the syrup with the infused liquid and bottle. The result will closely resemble Mozart Dark Chocolate liqueur. "Very Good": 86/100 (4 stars)

This dark chocolate liqueur offers notes of caramel, sea salt, and smoke while maintaining a smooth finish. By omitting the cream found in most other liqueurs, this dark chocolate option allows the African cacao and vanilla flavors to stand out. Its dark appearance has a golden sheen. The aroma highlights the smoky quality and dark chocolate bitters. Overall, this is an excellent choice for those who prefer a less creamy or sweet liqueur to savor in a chilled glass.
Lacks body on the palate, tastes like bitter dark chocolate.
