Three Fingers High 12 Year Sherry Finished

This ranks among the finest Canadian creations, comparable to popular music artists. It evokes a memorable day in Vancouver with a well-known actor, where we enjoyed the city and received complimentary food and drinks due to his recognizable presence. The aroma is reminiscent of Neapolitan ice cream, with a sweet scent like a Milk Dud, and a faint grassy note upon deeper inhalation. The palate is quite pleasant; the aging process softened the pepper spice into a delightful baking spice. Vanilla is present, and the finish is brief and unobtrusive. It's a smooth, sweet Canadian whisky, not challenging and suitable for occasional holiday enjoyment, much like the festive music of a renowned singer.

Three Fingers High 40% ABV, made in Canada but bottled in California. Aged 12 years in oak and finished in sherry, made from 100% pot still rye. Nose: Minimal alcohol presence, a light sweetness, a peculiar cheap Canadian whisky scent, not very prominent. Taste: Oak and used barrel flavors are dominant initially, followed by more of that strange, cheap Canadian whisky taste. I detect no sherry influence. It's not particularly sweet and is very smooth and easy to drink. I did not notice any spice. It's baffling how something aged for 12 years, apparently sherry-finished, and presented in a premium bottle at this price point could taste this way. I might have received a flawed bottle and would consider trying it again, but I'm hesitant to risk it given the cost. Overall, a very disappointing whiskey. A well-rounded 100% Rye Canadian Whisky from an unknown Canadian producer, crafted from a mix of 12-year-old 100% Canadian Rye Spirits from both pot and column stills, finished in various Sherry casks. It opens with rye, baking spices, and caramel apples; develops a creamy texture with cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper, and vanilla bean notes; and concludes with a lengthy, balanced finish featuring hints of chocolate, toasted nuts, and oak. Strong and spicy with a pleasant end. This is my go-to when I'm in the mood for a robust rye that isn't too harsh. It might not have perfect polish throughout its taste, but it's a solid rye, free of bitterness or odd tastes. I enjoy mellowing it out with ice or a bit of water, depending on how I feel. For a powerful Canadian whisky or rye, consider sampling this one.

Nose: Sharp and bright, with ethanol, a metallic hint, vanilla, and mild spice. After some time, strong maple emerges. Palate: Sweet vanilla and strong nutmeg, with lingering metallic notes. Finish: Sweet and brief, somewhat rough, with an unpleasant burn.

Alcohol burns the tongue immediately, followed by potent acetone notes that bring nail polish remover to mind, and then some spicy pepper. Despite being aged 12 years and finished in sweet sherry casks, it certainly lacks sweetness.
