About this bottle

John’s Private Cask No. 1 was Forty Creek’s special release for 2011. This whisky was the first time John Hall concentrated on enhancing the grain flavors instead of the type of oak barrel used for the finishing process. It is a blend of rye, corn, and barley whiskies, which were copper pot-distilled and aged as single-grain whiskies. Barrels marked with chalk can be observed in Forty Creek’s barrel room; these are the barrels John has reserved for his special stock. In 2011, twenty-three of these barrels contained grain flavor profiles deemed ready for selection. 9,000 bottles were produced.
