Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye, presented in its Fall 2024 release, is an uncut and unfiltered Kentucky straight rye. It honors the New Orleans bartender credited with first using rye whiskey in a Sazerac cocktail, a departure from the drink's original brandy base. This expression was aged for over 6 years and bottled at barrel proof, registering 127.2 (63.6% ABV). It is expected to be available at select retailers nationwide beginning in October 2024, with a suggested retail price of $149.99.

Nose: Creme brulee, frosting Palate: Cinnamon, rye spice, cherry Finish: Oak, tannin, charcoal, berries A tasty, complex rye that drinks easier than its proof suggests. Definitely worth the suggested retail price, but I wouldn't pay secondary market prices.
A pleasant fruity spice on the palate that evolves into sweet cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Subtle notes of sweet caramel and sugar are present. This is fantastic and coats the mouth. The finish is also excellent.
As is typical, the Handy surpasses the Sazerac, although it's not as varied as in past years.
Thick and slick with notes of baking spices, caramel, and vanilla, leaving a warm spicy end.
