The Liberator Irish Malt Whiskey Tawny Port Finish (Inaugural Release)

TASTED NEAT: Abundant fruit on the aroma. Tart fruit, cherries, green apple, berries. A faint chocolate hint and some vanilla. Remarkable; it drinks like a scotch. Heavy cherry flavors throughout and a pleasant cherry pie finish. The mid-palate has an interesting maltiness. Quite light on the tongue. Decent alcohol content but no significant burn. The port influence is definitely present deep in the aftertaste. My first real exploration into Irish Whiskey. Quite good! I'd drink it again. Fortunate to have acquired the bottle.

Fantastic and distinctive whiskey! Its color is nearly a deep pink. The aroma is dominated by the Tawny Port influence. I anticipated it would be overpowering on the palate, but it is surprisingly well-balanced! Flavors of dark fruit are accompanied by vanilla, spice, and shortbread. This is the ultimate whiskey for the winter holidays; it's a bargain and the first double-matured Irish Whiskey in half a century.

Spicy and cooked fruit scents on the nose. The whiskey is sweet, feeling warming and smooth in the mouth, then becoming somewhat peppery and bitter. The finish has a pleasant warmth.

Smell: Brown sugar, burnt sugar Taste: Dried grapes, more burnt sugar Aftertaste: sugary brown sugar (velvety)
