If I could give a 3.7 or 3.8, I would have, but I'm rating this a 4. This scotch is solid. The aroma is very fruity and floral, with hints of caramel and subtle vanilla, creating a pleasant, balanced impression. There's a noticeable alcohol scent, suggesting the presence of younger whisky in this single malt, which is not unpleasant but does make an impact. The palate initially presents alcohol, but it quickly transitions to caramel and oak, leading to a nice, sweet, oaky finish with traces of sherry. Be PATIENT! My initial tasting upon opening the bottle was not favorable, but it improves significantly with air. If your first dram isn't what you expected, don't be discouraged. Reviews for this Glenlivet Solera vary, possibly due to bottle inconsistency. Fortunately, I'm enjoying mine, though I found the price of 67.50 Euros a bit steep; around 40 to 50 Euros would be more fitting for the quality.

One of the 3 regular market releases from the distillery, the "mid-priced one." This is a Solera Vatted type, actually has the best smell in the brand's lineup. 40% alcohol. Beautiful aroma, Honey, Vanilla cream, lots of Peanut butter, Smells like flowers, Prunes, Wedding cake, So very sweet, I could spend hours just smelling this. On the palate it's a bit simple, Bitter notes, cereal, Oak and Peanut butter. Finish is short but surprisingly smoky and ashy. Nice. Overall, it's fair to give this drink an 86 out of 100. I would buy another bottle because it's easy to pair with food.

A friend acquired this for me while traveling. While I typically favor bolder whiskies, this is among the finest Scotches I've encountered. It presents a deep amber color. The aroma is floral with a hint of chocolate; no alcohol is noticeable. The taste is chocolatey and nutty, with a medium finish and mouthfeel. This is definitely worth purchasing if you enjoy those flavors.

One of my favorites. Ultra smooth, with a bite on the back of the tongue that reminds you this is serious business. Lots of complexity, full-bodied, exceptional.

This is the budget alternative to Glenfiddich 15. While pleasant and gentle, its body is weak and the finish is short. Contains vanilla, some dried fruit, and caramel... It's not bad.

The best of the three MDR series! The solera Vat reveals the richness and depth of the dram.
