Famous Grouse Bourbon Cask

Look: We're all aware of the situation. Prices are soaring, the economy is struggling, and everyone is facing difficulties. So, can you fault someone for wanting to revisit some affordable and enjoyable whiskies from years past? I never truly noticed the intriguing aroma of Famous Grouse bourbon cask before. Beyond the underlying vanilla, there's an almost tropical fruitiness to the nose, with notes of pineapple and coconut. Digging a little deeper reveals caramel. It's not complex, as all the scents emerge simultaneously, but it's certainly distinctive. The taste is not very complex. The primary note is incredibly sweet, almost overwhelmingly so. Vanilla and intensely sweet caramel. Candied mango slices, milk chocolate, and just a tiny hint of cinnamon just before the finish begins. The finish is sweet, simple, and long. The cinnamon fades, allowing caramel, milk chocolate, and a light dusting of honey-roasted nuts to take over. Yes, it's undoubtedly a straightforward whisky, but it's exceptionally sweet and genuinely mellow and pleasing. You could certainly do much worse for $26.

While subjective, commentary should be substantial. Without further delay. The review (the only one). The nose is a bit harsh due to the young grain whisky. However, after the initial scent, you detect subtle notes of butter, pound cake, and bananas. The taste can be described as an unrefined Macallan (perhaps due to its origin). It features freshly made malt cereal with milk and a few slices of bananas. However, the bananas are green, and the milk is thin. The American oak cask contributes a subtle taste of cinnamon spice and turmeric. Overall, it's not the finest whiskey with the best preparation. Yet, it's a wonderful representation of Highland scotch and is very drinkable. A fine expression bridging American and Scottish whiskey traditions, appealing to both. Definitely worth purchasing for enjoyment anytime.
