Balvenie The Edge of Burnhead Wood 19 Year

I found this enjoyable, but it didn't quite meet my prior expectations. These were influenced by earlier experiences with aged Balvenie and the significant price tag of over $300. It's a bit intense initially, though the warmth subsides, revealing the familiar honey and crisp apple notes, now accompanied by pleasant jasmine and floral undertones. It disappears from the palate too rapidly for my preference, leaving a slight bitterness before vanishing completely. The texture isn't as rich as I'm accustomed to. I'm uncertain how much of this I'd need to have before repurchasing it; perhaps half the retail cost. I might reconsider before committing to another expensive, aged Balvenie.

The aroma is incredible. A perfect balance of honey and fresh herbs. The taste isn't quite as vibrant as the smell, but it's still satisfying. A nice, long, oily finish with a good amount of spice, honey, and some fresh oak. Overall, I really like this drink. I wouldn't purchase a bottle, but I'd happily consume this at a bar all day for a reasonable price.

Nose: The aroma is well-described as heather, with its unique honey scent and beeswax character, offering a great way to learn about heather notes. Taste: Sweet and tart, with a noticeable sourness among the five flavors. It evokes the feeling of being in a flower field, with a citrusy intensity as if lemon juice was secretly added. Finish: A pleasant oakiness subtly lingers alongside the tartness. Shows a distinct presence within the Balvenie Story lineup.

Every stage of the drinking experience offered excellent flavors.
