A go-to spirit. While not intricate, there's skill in crafting such a smooth and elegant drink. It has a sweet aroma reminiscent of honey and vanilla, and it tastes sweet and delightful on the tongue. It's fresh and malty, with a hint of cinnamon and vanilla imparted by the barrels. As a whole, Balvenie expressions don't typically overpower; they approach subtly, much like a feline, quiet and unseen. I'm finding great pleasure in many of their offerings, and this is a fantastic, reasonably priced whiskey. Truly a benchmark and essential for anyone who appreciates whiskey.

About this bottle
This bottling, available from spring 2018, commemorates the 25th anniversary of the well-known Doublewood 12 Year. Malt Master David C. Stewart began experimenting with the double wood finishing technique in 1982, leading to the release of The Balvenie Classic in 1983. The Doublewood 12 Year was subsequently introduced in 1993 and has remained a staple in their product line. This 25th Anniversary Edition contains the same whiskey as the standard version, initially maturing for 12 years in traditional American oak before a nine-month finishing period in Spanish oak oloroso sherry barrels. Limited quantities are available.

Smells like grapes and vanilla, quite enjoyable and not heavy, with a robust fruit aroma. The palate features fruit, with raisins being the primary flavor on the finish. It's tasty and fruity, though not extremely light, and the finish lingers.
Sweet aroma and an exceptionally smooth finish. It seems to vanish in the mouth at the conclusion. Very sippable and a superb dram.
Among the most fruit-forward whiskies I have ever had. Absolutely outstanding. Enjoyed neat at room temperature in a Glencairn glass.
A pleasant, smooth, sweet scotch. Lacks smoke but offers some intricate bitter qualities and a satisfying sweet end.
Pleasant aroma. The initial taste is sweet, finishing with a robust intensity. I prefer it neat or with soda water.
