El Mayor Cristalino is a superb charcoal-filtered aged tequila. The aroma presents a dominant vanilla note, with hints of butter, dry hay, sage, and bubble gum. The flavors are quite intricate, featuring notes of vanilla, a medicinal licorice quality, subtle oak and caramel, and a dry, spicy finish reminiscent of cinnamon. It isn't as sharp and fresh as other cristalino tequilas, but it is a premium pour.

About this bottle
Tequila El Mayor Cristalino is crafted from 100% Blue Weber agave grown on the brand's estate in Jalisco's Lowlands. The agave is cooked in an autoclave and then processed with a mill, eschewing traditional ovens and tahonas. After undergoing double distillation in copper-lined pot stills, it is aged for a minimum of 12 months in American oak, akin to an Añejo. Prior to bottling, it is charcoal filtered to achieve clarity. Introduced in September 2019, Cristalino is now a permanent offering in the brand's lineup.

Not impressed. Perhaps the filtration removes too much for my liking, especially when contrasted with the rest of El Mayor's product line.
A pleasant woody and slightly smoky flavor. It's also quite smooth.
