December 23rd marks the Clergy Family Christmas, at least for our household. The following two days will be exceptionally busy, so I dedicated a significant amount of time in the kitchen to prepare our yearly feast: salad, roast duck, root vegetables cooked in duck fat, and rice pudding. Now that the meal is finished, the dishes are clean, and the presents have been opened, I'm taking a quiet moment for the second-to-last dram from my Advent calendar. And it's certainly impressive. The aroma is rich, a feast in itself: toasted brioche, vanilla pastry cream, lightly toasted almond, and apricot glaze. The palate is warming rather than hot, with an initial wave of fruit compote giving way to vanilla and almond pastry lightly dusted with cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish lingers, with vanilla and spice alongside a touch of spirit-induced warmth. Wishing everyone a good night!

About this bottle
The Brabazon series honors the Brabazon family, who governed the Liberties area of Dublin from the 16th to 19th centuries, near the present-day Teeling Distillery. This inaugural bottling in the series features Irish single malt that has been matured in various sherry casks of different vintages, sizes, and styles. It is non chill-filtered, bottled at 49.5% ABV, with 12,500 bottles produced for initial release at select Irish retailers in May 2017, followed by other markets.

Pale brown color with fruity and sweet notes on the nose. On the palate, it's nutty and fruity but very smooth. A savory combination of wood, dark fruits, and nuts then spreads in the mouth. This combination lingers long and intensely. The finish is then savory and fruity.
Marmalade, fruit, and nuts on the nose. Tastes sweet with notes of licorice and toffee. Finishes woody.
Closer to a 3.5 Not a strong aroma, good flavor, not a very strong aftertaste.
