Glenturret Triple Wood

This bar has a strong pull on me. I can't just walk past...I just...need...to have...one...just a small measure. Okay, 3 measures...definitely just 3. No. 1 Glen turret. I'm comparing this with the 26-year Glenturret from BBR and a 24-year Jura...so how does it measure up? Quite well, actually, even though it's the more affordable dram at approximately $55 USD. It has a nice, thick mouthfeel, with bourbon being the primary flavor. If the KM 09 is a 4, this can't be higher than a 3.4.

If you don't exclusively prefer smooth whiskey, this could be a good option. It's quite spicy and has a kick. It offers some depth but leaves a rather brief finish. I will certainly seek out older Glenturret varieties.

Nose: apples and green grapes. Color: Light yellowish Palate: Glassy and very light; no sharp taste; sharp alcohol burn. Finish: Slow roll on; Boiled peanuts. Burn rolls off slowly. Overall: Mediocre. I would not buy it.

A malty aroma with notes of orchard fruit. The taste brings to mind golden raisins, similar to Irish whiskey. The influence of the sherry cask is quite evident. It's smoother than Aberlour A'bunadh. A lingering finish with stone fruit flavors.

Banana cream, cinnamon, and honey on the nose lead to green apples and cinnamon on the palate. The finish has dark chocolate drizzled over blackcurrants. A delightful whiskey!
