About this bottle

The Distillers Edition, an annual limited release from Diageo, showcases select single malt Scotch whiskies from its portfolio. Each bottling undergoes a secondary maturation in specially chosen casks. For this Talisker expression, casks that previously held Amoroso sherry, a blend of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez, were utilized. Produced in 2007, this whisky was bottled in 2017 at a strength of 91.6 proof.

Jackie York 4.0

Talisker, twice matured in Amoroso cask wood from 2007 to 2017. Calibration: Macallan 15. Not as bad as they say it is 😈. Honestly, probably the best item from today's tasting. True, the initial aroma was like dead fish, but the longer you experience it, the less it assaults the face and nose. Aroma: Initially challenging for me, but I persisted. Earthy, smoky, even a bit sweet. Taste: Sweet (surprising here), smoky, peaty, hints of seafood? Finish: Sharply sweet, pleasant, lingers for a long time.

Dorothea Dowling 4.3

Nose: Intense smoked meat, hints of salted caramel, ocean air, barrel spice. Palate: Sherry is prominent with light dried fruits like sultanas and apple, a burst of pineapple emerges at the end, the smoke is noticeable but never dominant. Finish: Satisfyingly long with dense smoke that intensifies, accompanied by a mild warmth. Notes: On subsequent sniffs, the meaty notes recede, allowing the sherry's fruitiness to come forward.
