Similar to Fortaleza reposado, there's a remarkably high menthol presence. However, the taste is sweeter and more engaging. This tequila is certainly more pleasant and I'd suggest it instead of Fortaleza. Some mint, sage, and white pepper emerge alongside a touch of sweetness and a robust, vegetal flavor. On the exit, the bitter, herbal notes persist, making it challenging to consume neat. Do I think ginger is present? Absolutely. The flavor truly lingers. It's definitely an acquired preference, but the real issue is how numbing and enduring the flavor is. I sampled this with Kahlua, just as I did with the other repair reposados. This combination is transformative and feels right. The flavors meld beautifully, creating a mixture that is sweet, full, and rich in subtlety. It also pairs well with St. Germain, but I'm uncertain if it's a better pairing than Fortaleza reposado. Conversely, its full flavor complements Cointreau better than Fortaleza reposado's does. Not that I'd likely be mixing with it, given its scarcity. Upon further tasting, this tequila is surprisingly mellow with undertones of sweet cinnamon and ginger amidst the vegetal notes. The flavor is sweet, but the finish is somewhat bitter and decidedly herbal. A hint of green olive is detectable, but it's minimal. Mint notes are present throughout. The flavor is profound and shifts in an interesting manner. This is a very well-rounded tequila, but the finish is slightly underwhelming. The aroma is sweet and fruity with cinnamon present. The flavor profile is balanced between fruit, spices, and herbs. Cinnamon plays a part, as do cloves and ginger. The agave is noticeable, as is some green olive, but they don't dominate. Quite balanced and smooth, but I wish the finish leaned sweeter. This is a good tequila and clearly showcases the varied yet gentle flavor of a reposado. Compared to El Tesoro Blanco, there's a lot happening here. It's sweeter with more pronounced minty notes, but also with a sweet grape soda taste. It's enjoyable and intriguing, and the flavors surprisingly harmonize. It might seem easy to dismiss as childish, but it's good. It needs refinement, but with a pleasant finish included, this is a gratifying and balanced beverage. El Tesoro's flavors blend more naturally, but T1's are more vibrant.

About this bottle
Germán González, who previously worked for his family's Chinaco, makes t1. This tequila uses 100% blue agaves from the Highlands, with some of them being especially mature. Following a process of slow autoclaving and double distillation, the reposado expression rests for six months in "very old" Scotch barrels before being bottled in a unique Aladdin-shaped container. It is made without additives.

Enjoyable reposado. It leads with significant sweetness, then eases into a prolonged agave finish.
