The name Stauning KAOS draws from Danish history, referencing the 1935 Prime Minister election where Thorvald Stauning's slogan was "Stauning or Chaos." Stauning Distillery presents both "Stauning" and "KAOS" by blending their Traditional, Peated, and Young Rye whiskies. This is a curious marriage with very limited availability and is not sold in the U.S.

A bottle brimming with smoke. The aroma of smoke, sweetness, and the best cereal ever, "Waffle Crisp," a subtle hint of orange peel, and rich maple. The taste is strongly peaty with spicy peppercorn, menthol, and heavy oak. At 4 years old, it's quite delicious with a long finish and lingering warmth. I'd be curious to try other bottlings to note the differences.
I've sampled numerous whiskies, but this one captivates me. With every sip, I feel like I'm entering a new dimension. I love it so much that I purchased two bottles.
This was a letdown compared to the most recent Stauning Young Rye. It has some strength and licorice notes, but the finish is not right. (Bottled June 2018) 22-21-21-20=84
On the nose, it reminds me a bit of paint thinner, with a subtle smokiness. In the mouth, it's lightly smoky, somewhat oily, and spicy. A burning finish.
Tried this and single malt at Himkok with a companion on 180218.
Very intriguing, and a surprising aftertaste!
