About this bottle

Rougaroux draws its name from a nocturnal, wolf-like figure in old Louisiana Cajun folklore, reputedly seen in sugarcane fields during a full moon. This dark rum utilizes blackstrap molasses and raw cane sugar from the Donner-Peltier family's fields in Thibodaux, Louisiana, reflecting the creature's nighttime association. It is aged in white oak without artificial colors or ingredients. Donner-Peltier Distillers, based in Thibodaux, announced it would conclude operations after August 27, 2018.

Dayton Cadena 4.0

The scent begins with a powdered sugar sweetness, tempered by a bit of tartness, and concludes with a faint oak note. The taste starts with a quick jolt of spice, which is a good surprise before the sweet body emerges. A mellow blackstrap molasses finish leaves your mouth with a pleasant tingle. It's generally clean and full-bodied. The only drawback is the bottle's height, being the tallest in my collection, it frequently gets pushed to the back.
