St. George Dry Rye Reposado Gin

This gin stood out as quite distinctive. It is certainly worth purchasing if you can locate it. The use of the Dry Rye expression of their three outstanding core gins was crucial. The characteristics of rye and white whiskey found in Dry Rye made it ideal for a short period of barrel maturation. Enjoy it in a Negroni, Old Fashioned, or by itself.

Potent yet well-balanced flavors of juniper, citrus, and spice over a dry rye foundation. A touch of fruit and vanilla from oak aging contributes to an elegant finish. I'm a fan of barrel-aged gins, and while superior options are more accessible, this one is worth seeking out.

More akin to whiskey than gin. Imagine aged whiskey with juniper instead of a typical gin. It would be better suited for a whiskey cocktail, like a Manhattan, rather than a martini. It's not unpleasant, but it ranks lower because a specific cocktail would need to be created for this spirit.

While I might not be the most frequent gin drinker, I know what I enjoy. This was fantastic. It had a pleasant bite and a very floral aroma. The color was appealing. A few drops of tonic really enhanced the juniper and other botanicals.

I'm not usually a gin drinker, but the underlying notes from the barrels make this one I 'like'. A year later: this is growing on me and is now my preferred gin to drink neat.
