I purchased this on impulse during a visit to an excellent bottle shop in southern Indiana. The aroma is sweet, with hints of honey, apple, and sweet corn. Given the mash bill of 68% rye, 35% corn, and 5% barley, the sweet corn notes are not surprising. Despite the sweeter nose, the rye is very dominant. My neat serving was spicy and thoroughly coated the front of my palate. The finish was long and quite robust. Some sweetness remained, but overall, there was more heat and spice. I will admit that it becomes more familiar as you continue sipping. Adding ice reduces some of the heat, but I find it tastes better neat. In summary, a pleasant surprise from a distiller in Indiana.
