I bought the Slow Hand Organic Six Woods Malt Whiskey from an online vendor and got this Slow Hand Six Woods Cask Whiskey instead. I'm not upset because I paid $45 for a $60 bottle at 115 proof. The bottle states, “Aged more than 10 minutes...” Ha! I doubt those 10 minutes gave it that lovely mahogany hue. It has some respectable, thin but slow-moving legs. Really pleasant and quite sweet on the nose, with notes of caramel, maple, candies, vanilla, and some baking spices. Dark stone fruits emerge towards the end. The palate isn't as sweet as the aroma; the caramel, maple, and vanilla carry over directly from the nose. It's not exactly smooth. Hints of nutty grape are present in the background. The alcohol content is barely perceptible. The finish is short to medium in length, with the sweetness battling and winning against a bit of bitterness and astringency. Overall, a delightful, dessert-style whiskey that offers a nice change of pace.
