Ever felt like an outsider? For a good portion of my life, I did. As a science-focused, vintage-appreciating whiskey enthusiast who enjoys dancing, traveling, cuisine, and art, I didn't fit the typical mold. One of the best aspects of the whiskey and spirits community is connecting with kindred spirits who celebrate our differences over exceptional drinks. Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey positions itself as a symbol of independence, breaking free from conventional, rigid societal norms. The idea for this spirit originated from founder Steve Yeng's signature peanut butter and whiskey cocktail at his Ocean Beach, CA bar. He and his wife Brittany brought this concept to life, honoring their community of misfits and outcasts. The aroma is reminiscent of roasted peanuts blended with rich toffee. Skrewball is like having dessert in liquid form. Smooth, sweet peanut butter in an easily drinkable consistency coats the mouth and lips, with a subtle hint of tannins. It resembles a less sticky peanut brittle that lingers on the palate long after each taste. I'd classify this more as a liqueur. I genuinely value its distinctiveness as an ingredient and would use it sparingly in a digestif, a cocktail (try adding a bit of Chambord for a PB&J vibe!), or to enhance a vanilla milkshake. If peanut butter cups are your preferred sweet treat, this bottle deserves a spot on your shelf. 6.5/10

A substantial, spiced Whiskey from Skrewball Spirits in California. Its origins are full and fragrant, featuring tastes of warm peanuts and honey. The main body is full and strong, bringing forward flavors of just-roasted peanuts, browned rye bread, Butterfingers candy, vanilla, and a touch of spice. It concludes with a lengthy and dense finish tasting of caramel candy and butterscotch. November 2019 / August 2022

Smells just like a chocolate peanut butter protein bar with nuts. Tastes identical to the aroma, not overly spicy, mellow, and very sweet. A pleasing conclusion with no odd aftertaste... an excellent whiskey for making a peanut butter milkshake. Affordable and worthwhile, particularly if you don't typically enjoy drinking whiskey neat.

I had low expectations for this and they were met. It had a taste of peanut butter mixed with corn syrup and a young whiskey burn. It might actually taste stronger than 70 proof. I'm happy I only got the 50 ml because $31.99 for a 750 ml bottle is too expensive.

Peanut butter. That's the whole story. One glass is fine, but after that, it's too much peanut butter. Three glasses in, you might find yourself inexplicably heating up a ball of something because you took a sleeping pill by mistake.

Excessively sweet. Might perform better in a mixed drink. It certainly had a peanut butter taste, but it seemed to mask a harsh underlying whiskey flavor. Fortunate I only procured a small bottle.
