Taconic Distillery Double Barrel Maple Bourbon

I have never liked a flavored whiskey before. I always believed the flavors got muddled, or it was excessively sweet, or it just felt like a poor combination, like something created when intoxicated in Las Vegas near a place to get married. But...this, I liked this. So, I was at the wine store yesterday buying a six pack of beer with very little alcohol (yes, it's available, and I enjoy it! 25 calories,

*** TOP CHOICE *** Nose - Bright with a light blackberry scent, hints of cinnamon, a touch of mint, crisp apple, very clean, bright, and refreshing Palate - Subtle oak, leather, cinnamon, maple syrup, burnt sugar, herbal notes like light yet bright spearmint and honey. Finish - Cinnamon, a light bitterness, and honey maple sweetness

Bourbon aficionados might find fault with this offering. In reality, it's a very enjoyable whiskey with a pleasant finish. I appreciate when distilleries in New York produce quality bourbons. Cheers!

The maple flavor is more subtle than I would have preferred, with more of a brown sugar taste similar to what you find in something like Eagle Rare. A bit hot and thin. Works well in a maple old fashioned, though.

Aroma - honey maple Taste - honey maple, sweet Finish- very smooth Overall - sweet and smooth, quite enjoyable actually and not overpowering for a bourbon.

Maple on the nose. Maple on the tongue. Definitely overproof for both. The rich maple aftertaste and high alcohol content make this a slow sipper, but it warms you up.
