Siembra Valles Ancestral

This has a very smoky aroma, with a minty quality, similar to mezcal. It tastes like mezcal too, though it's a touch sweeter than most. There's some caramel present alongside the smoke. The smoke is intense and has an iodine note. To be honest, it's too much. Thankfully, the agave character comes through, and it does add some vanilla. This strongly resembles Del Maguey Chichicapa. It's quite bitter and earthy, but the bitterness eventually subsides, allowing the spices and herbs to become apparent. The mint has a spearmint character. While there are many flavors, it lacks the maturity one might anticipate in a distinguished whiskey. It's decent, and I would certainly drink it neat, but it's far from astonishing. It has mineral notes and a hint of lime and pineapple, but it's not an exceptionally fruity spirit, despite noticeable fruit notes.

This spirit lives up to its name, a tequila crafted as it was centuries ago. Cooked in underground pits, the smoky flavor is dominant on both the nose and palate. A 100 proof tequila that is very smooth, with peppery and minty flavors. It's quite different from standard blanco tequila, but it's a remarkable indulgence.
