This pure malt whisky is a blend initially aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks before being finished in Mizunara oak, resulting in a minimum total maturation period of 10 years.

Quite pleasant and fresh, yet also complex, with an exceptionally good finish. For a Japanese whisky of this type, its availability alone warrants praise. While the origin of the malt remains undisclosed, I'm struck by how remarkably similar it is to Woodford Reserve Double Oak, which is about half the price. However, the Mizunara finish is undeniably a distinct highlight.
Enjoyable stuff. It smells rather fruity with notes of vanilla and orange peel. The palate is rich and balanced. Once more, quite fruity with a mild vanilla and chocolate. A pleasant spice emerges on the finish.
Clear and distinct, with floral aromas initially, followed by warmth and a swift disappearance. A small addition of water seems appropriate.
Merely acceptable. Hibiki Masters Select or Kujira 10 Year Old are considerably superior.
Too refined. Resembles a lab-created diamond.
