It smells potent for an 86 proof spirit, yet it's remarkably smooth. As a novice, I don't detect significant complexity. There's a hint of orange peel and a subtle trace of caramel. The end has a bit of spice/bitterness, but it's not unpleasant.
Tastes of malt syrup, vanilla, and cereal; a bit swampy, with dark coffee. The finish is sweet, well-balanced with a touch of bitterness and a roasted-coffee/roasted spice-wood and biscuit profile.
