Appearance: A shade shy of rose gold. Bouquet: Earthy peat mingling with flowery sweetness, reminiscent of ripe banana, and astringent red wine notes from start to finish. Taste: Savory (pork fat and charcoal) and sweet (custard, honey, and maraschino cherries). More smoky on the palate than the nose suggested, but not at all overwhelming. Aftertaste: Wonderful. A velvety campfire. Flawless integration from the barrel. With Water: Earthy soil emitting a gentle sweetness. Salty and ripe without reducing the smoke whatsoever. The finish is nearly perfect -- a guaranteed win. Slightly lighter and more refined with the addition of water.
