Macallan The Harmony Collection Amber Meadow

Part of the Travel retail exclusive Harmony collection, this is the fifth release in Macallan's new saga, called 'Amber Meadow'. It moves away from the coffee and chocolate notes of its predecessors in the same collection. Bottled at 44.2% ABV, it's described as 'an inspiration from natural Scottish grasslands to create a single malt Scotch whisky that would be reminiscent of warm meadows and mature barley fields'. On the nose, it offers fresh grassland, hay, grass, and very herbal scents. There's also tobacco, lemongrass, and lemon verbena. It's very citrusy. After an initial sip, the aroma transforms into a very fruity profile with oranges and chocolate. Orange caramel notes emerge. The palate features vanilla and toffee ice cream. There's also pepper, salt, and sulphur. The aftertaste is well-executed with a pleasant spiciness. Notes of chili, wasabi, and metallic sensations are present. Overall, this is the standout expression from this collection. The aroma and tasting notes are very clean and enjoyable. It's a truly wonderful dram, which isn't something I often say about Macallan. I rate it 92 out of 100.

Very good, possibly superior to the cocoa harmony I've had. Slightly spicy, smooth finish.

Pleasant, gentle aroma with a sugary palate. Mellow, subtle smokiness. The finish lingers briefly.

This is an absolutely outstanding scotch!
