Seagram's VO Gold

The appearance is a deep honey amber with subtle alcohol legs. The aroma offers mellow nectar, spearmint, candied dried fruits, and a hint of wood. The taste has soft wood notes, a touch of char, some mint, floral hints, and sugar. It's very mellow and mild, as indicated on the label. The finish fades gradually and moderately without being lingering or cloying. The 8 years of aging seem to enhance the blended whiskies. I believe bourbon detractors would enjoy this, while bourbon enthusiasts might dislike it. It's a gem in my opinion, and I'm disappointed it's being discontinued.

Seagram's VO Gold is an acceptable whiskey, but its quality doesn't align with its price. While it offers a smooth and creamy taste, the brief and bitter finish, lacking depth and complexity, doesn't justify the high cost. It's not ideal for cocktails due to its unremarkable flavor. Consider Crown Royal at a similar price for better taste and quality, or for a more budget-friendly option, Canadian Club Original or Rich and Rare Reserve offer better value without sacrificing flavor.

As a newcomer to whiskey, I find this very smooth with minimal sharpness. It goes down with a pleasant warmth that lingers. Ideal for cold Montana winters. Delicious!
