A rich, aged rum from the Ron Millonario Distillery, owned by Fabio Rossi and his brother in Peru. It's a blend of 8–15-year-old Rums aged in American and Slavonian oak barrels using a 4-stage solera process. It offers a rich and aromatic start with notes of caramel, cinnamon, coffee, and candied fruit; followed by a rich middle with notes of walnut, oak, vanilla, and toffee; leading to an elegant, medium-length finish. Nose: Caramel, chocolate, a hint of charcoal and possibly licorice. Palate: Caramel, smoky. Finish: Smooth with some smokiness. This is intriguing; it tastes like a blend of rum and an Islay whiskey.
Very sweet with prominent vanilla, honey, cinnamon, cloves, and plum flavors. Its silky texture is pleasant for sipping and evokes a feeling of luxury.
On the second tasting, I'm detecting more molasses and burnt caramel than wood. Very enjoyable!
A sharp nose that hints at marker, leading to a pleasant palate of fruity and cane sugar, and a wonderfully bright finish.
Like many South American rums, this one is quite sweet. However, for the price, it's some of the best.
