Botran No. 15 Ron de Guatemala is a single estate rum from the Pacific south coast of Guatemala, using the first press of virgin sugarcane honey instead of molasses. It employs a dynamic aging system, a solera variation, blending rums aged 5-15 years in American whiskey, sherry, and port casks. Certified as Ron de Guatemala with a Protected Denomination of Origin, Botran was reintroduced to the US in August 2022 with updated packaging.

A good rum, classic nose, powerful on the palate with strong oak notes and subtle vanilla hints. The first tasting was not convincing, but it proves very interesting when compared to lighter rums.
Nose: Camel and brown sugar Palate: Oak, caramel, brown sugar Finish: A spicy burn followed by oak. Acceptable. This is my initial experience with a rum not made from molasses, so I lack a point of comparison.
Light copper hue, with notes of honey, brown sugar, oak, and cedar, finishing with some spice over a short duration.
Very pleasant, likely not the absolute best, but offers excellent value for the quality.
A woody character reminiscent of whisky, very good!
