Rogue Rolling Thunder Cask Strength

This Rogue Stout has a strong Oregon character. It is intensely FUNKY and earthy. The nose and palate both offer a significant stout presence, but there's an additional layer of true Oregon musty funk, with some cheesy undertones. As an experience, it's certainly distinct and engaging, but I likely wouldn't drink multiple servings.

The aroma is of Belgian waffles, strong mature dark cherries, and maple, with a peculiar mustiness; burnt chocolate and a distinct malt character give this a bold and distinctive profile over a typical peppery rye. A wonderfully different change that is probably not for newcomers to whisk(e)y.

I'm really not enjoying this serving. I love whiskey and I love stouts, but it seems like the worst characteristics of all the components are what come through.

Very intricate flavors from both new oak and stout oak barrels. Coffee, cocoa, oak spice. Finishes with baking spices.

Bottled at cask strength. It's a bit harsh initially, but its complexity emerges after the first burn.
