About this bottle

Roger Groult produces Calvados in Saint-Cyr-du-Ronceray, within France's Pays d'Auge region. The apple-based cider used is aged for one year before being distilled in copper pot-stills. Following two distillations, the spirit matures for at least three years in old Limousin oak barrels, with some older Calvados incorporated into the blend.

Calvin Ladd 3.0

A potent, uncommon double-aged Réserve Calvados from Roger Groult Calvados Distillery in Pays d’Auge, Normandy, France. The cider undergoes a year of aging before double-distillation; subsequently, the resulting spirit matures for three more years in old Limousin oak casks on-site, blended with a small quantity of much older Calvados. It possesses a crisp & tart beginning with notes of shortbread & warm cream; while a candied & spicy middle phase introduces notes of autumn fruits, lush tannins, hints of caramel & vanilla; culminating in a dry & clean end with hints of hazelnut & mint. Marco Alston 4.3

Very dry with a touch of smokiness. A pleasant apple tartness emerges at the end.
