CAMUS XO Borderies Single Estate

Excellent cognac. Someone in the comments compared the palate to “pound cake,” and I struggled to pinpoint it initially, but that’s exactly it! The aroma is sweet, with notes of honey and caramel. The palate presents as a sweet baked good: pound cake, Danish pastry, and sweet pastry crust with a hint of dried fruit. I acquired the small sample, but I am now strongly considering purchasing the full-sized bottle. This is my first Camus, and I was thoroughly impressed.

Aroma: Caramel custard, bright red fruits, subtle oak and nutty notes, camphor, and some indistinct spicy characteristics. Taste: Moderately full-bodied and smooth with notes of fresh and dried fruits, oak, and barrel spices. Finish: Lingering with suggestions of vanilla, licorice, and spices. I was surprised by the vibrancy of this XO.

NOSE: Surprisingly potent for a cognac. It smells of sweet candied orange peel and burnt caramel, tasting relatively fresh for an XO. Subtle vanilla notes are present, but dry oak is prominent. PALATE: Sweet crème brûlée, sweet pineapple juice, mint chocolate, spicy candied ginger, with a pleasant, simmering peppermint finish.

Considering the price, this is one of my top cognacs, offering fruity notes alongside hints of almond, vanilla, dried fruits, and poundcake. To me, it signifies pure indulgence.

It's been some time since I've sampled a Cognac, and this one is remarkably good. It possesses deep, rich notes akin to port, Christmas pudding, and more. A very fine effort.

Very sweet with a pleasant, lingering aftertaste. Delightful. I will repurchase if the price is reasonable.
