Cask-strength whiskey at this price? What's not to like? But be warned, this is young and intended to highlight the grain rather than mellowing it with oak. Butterscotch tops the aroma with a hint of mineral. More butterscotch on the palate with spice and candied fruit. A warm finish as expected, but not as hot as you'd think at 118 proof. Add a few drops of water and let it sit for 10-15 minutes to breathe. Very enjoyable! I prefer to drink this neat. I appreciate the bold flavors and don't want to dilute them by mixing. However, I must admit it works wonderfully in a Manhattan!

Abundant caramel and toffee on the nose, rye spices and salted caramel on the palate. A faint dill note, but sweet and good rye spices. You can't beat a Kentucky-sourced Rye, 118 proof for $29!
