The Remus 15 Year Gatsby Reserve, launched in October 2023 with an SRP of $199.99, is a limited edition straight bourbon from Indiana's Ross & Squibb Distillery. This second edition honors F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel, The Great Gatsby, and features some of the distillery's oldest bourbon reserves, aged for 15 years like its predecessor. Master Distiller Ian Stirsman's team utilized two mash bills: one with 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley, and another with 60% corn, 36% rye, and 4% malted barley. It is bottled at a cask strength of 98.1 proof.

Tannins are present, followed by vanilla and caramel, with heavier oak notes, hints of maple, and some anise-like flavors that blend with the barrel char. The finish is somewhat robust but concludes incredibly quickly. A good bourbon, but I'm uncertain if I would purchase it at this price point.
The tannins are quite sharp at first. It sweetens up a bit in the middle and is fairly rich with some maple and oak. The finish is fairly short. For the price, I wouldn't buy it again.

This sweet rye, after breathing a bit, is a fantastic beverage. It offers pleasant rye spice along with depth and sweetness. Without question, it's among the finest ryes I have experienced.
