We're taking a forced pause due to home renovations involving floor sanding and polishing, so we've headed to the Martinborough wine region for a few days of relaxation. We visited several parks and vineyards, as children get their way if we get ours:-). One establishment in the small town is a former bank converted into a wine tasting venue, offering 56 wines and several local gins. After sampling various pinots and taking a break at a nearby children's playground, I got a pass, kid-free, to try the gins. The name Reid + Reid comes from two brothers who launched the business. It's very straightforward – pepper and juniper. Not out of balance, but not particularly captivating. Unfortunately, they only had FeverTree tonic, which, in my humble opinion, is a rather light and slightly artificial-tasting mixer compared to the rich complexity of East Imperial.
