Squealing Pig Rose Gin

Nose: Juniper, citrus, lavender. It's a standard, straightforward gin aroma. There's a slight sweetness from the rosé, but if I were tasting blind, I might mistake it for a berry botanical. Palate: Slightly sweet, balanced by citrus and a well-chosen blend of botanicals. The addition of rosé is more apparent on the palate, but it's not overwhelming. It mainly adds complexity and texture, rather than just flavor. Finish: Medium. Juniper and the rosé hint fade into a mildly spicy finish. This is clearly a gin incorporating a small amount of rosé wine, giving it a pale pink color and a pleasant faint sweetness and richness of texture. Squealing Pig is primarily a winery, with gin production being a more recent venture. They also offer a pinot noir gin that I haven't tried yet. Very enjoyable and refreshing. Initially, I was hesitant about the combination, but it's expertly handled here, with moderation and balance being key. This isn't a peculiar or overpowering gin, but one skillfully crafted to be a classic London dry gin with a subtle unique touch. It's also a clever play on "pink gin" – I wonder how it would taste with bitters? The distiller recommends serving it with soda over ice, but I much preferred it with light tonic and a twist of lemon peel. It makes a very good classic gin and tonic.
