Initially, I detected medicinal notes on the nose, but after some time, it shifted to oak, vanilla, and a touch of butterscotch and caramel. It has a medium length finish with a lingering new charred oak taste in the mouth.

About this bottle
Utilizing 100% two-row malted barley, Putnam New England Single Malt was first introduced in December 2017. It represents the inaugural whiskey from Boston Harbor Distillery, which handles its grain-to-glass production. The spirit matures in 53-gallon new American white oak barrels, first toasted then heavily charred, and is bottled at 100 proof.

Full disclosure: I'm not a big fan of Rye. That said, it was less harsh than a typical Rye. Smooth finish.
