Made from barley grown on Islay by six farms, carrying 40ppm peat. It's unfiltered and uncolored. Nose: Intense brine with a medicinal punch, plus lemon, vanilla, cookies, and pine. Palate: A mouthful of smoky, oily, peaty peanut butter on a cracker with seasoning, plus a citrus note. Finish: Lingering black pepper, scorched wood, and an oily, salty sensation. It dries your mouth and makes you pucker. Briny aroma, with medicinal and smoky elements. Subtle fruit notes are present but not dominant. The taste is consistently salty and drying, making me want water. I'm not particularly fond of this one, primarily due to the strong astringency, especially at the end. I've seen positive opinions elsewhere, but my experience differed. This assessment comes from finishing a whole bottle over time, including letting it sit for months when nearly empty. While it seemed slightly better after resting, the change wasn't major. Enjoy!

This Port Charlotte expression, released in 2014, features barley cultivated on Islay farms including Coull, Kynagary, Island, Rockside, Starchmill, and Sunderland. Harvested and distilled in 2008, the spirit was peated to 40ppm and bottled at 50% ABV after maturation.

Peat smoke from beginning to end. Just when you think you've experienced all the smoke, you're hit with more smoke, and then even more. A dry, smoky, very salty finish. I anticipated this would be good, but it exceeded my expectations. This is practically flawless.
