The color might suggest minimal sherry influence, but you can smell it immediately after the smoke, along with some apple. After a while, the fruits become sweeter, almost jam-like. It also has a savory/BBQ quality. The first sip was spicy, followed by sherry fruits, then smoke/peat, then dryness and a hint of ash. The finish is of medium length. I'm impressed that it has acquired beautiful sherry notes without diminishing the freshness and still allowing the smoke to be prominent. A fantastic whisky in my opinion; I'm a big fan of peat/smoke and sherry.
