The initial aroma is reminiscent of a summer carnival: cotton candy, light caramel, an intense dose of vanilla, and definitely a heavy oak presence. Regarding the taste, perhaps I'm not the target audience, but the primary characteristic is sweetness. It's overwhelmingly sweet, but not in a pleasant way, lacking any resemblance to rich sugary sources. It's as if I accidentally dropped a Stevia packet into the glass. It's sickly sweet and dominates everything, followed by ethanol. That's essentially it. There's no development, no fruit, and no lasting finish. It's oaky candy corn at 42% ABV. There's almost no subtlety here. Maybe I'm too unfamiliar with Canadian whiskies, but this seems excessive even for those standards. And I can think of countless better options for $27.
