Popcorn Sutton Tennessee White Wiskey

This is a challenging spirit to drink. It's presented as an unaged white whiskey, and it certainly is. While my experience with unaged whiskey is limited, I do enjoy gins, vodkas, and white rum, so I took a gamble. On the nose, it's pure sweet corn and ethanol. There's virtually no body, and the finish is sweet with a slight bitterness at the very end. Though I didn't care for it initially, it grew on me over several weeks of sampling. It works adequately in whiskey and cokes, but I won't be purchasing a new bottle when this one is empty. Sorry, friend, I'm not a fan of this.

I picked this up on sale. It has a nice body and is very smooth, with sweet, buttery corn as the primary flavor. Of the four bottles on the shelf at the store, each had sediment settled at the bottom, which was easily disturbed when handled. After shaking the bottle I purchased at home, the sediment seemed to break down into much smaller particles. I suspect this might be due to minimal filtering and/or the addition of hard water to adjust the proof.

At first, traces of butter and oats appear, leading to a woodsy conclusion. A fine spirit, yet perhaps not as intricate as I'd anticipated.
